Ecotourism Trips
An ecotour promises a worthwhile tour without having to destroy the planet. It is no secret that the planet is consumed with too much pollution that it is threatening mankind's very existence.
Ecotourism aims, above all, to support the conservation of natural resources, natural and cultural environments. The focus of an ecotourism trip is not on the sights and sounds of the destination, but more on the culture and nature that the destination has to offer.
When backpacking for your ecotourism tour, it is best to remember a few guidelines:
- What activities are included in the ecotourism trip? This is an important consideration because there might be some activities you have to do in the trip. Say, the trip invites you to hike 14 kilometers of jungle, while you very well all know that you can not walk more than 2 kilometers. Or let's say, the trip involves swimming but you know you can not swim. For a better enjoyment of the trip, it is best if you know what are the things planned for the trip. While a few surprises, may not hurt, it is not bad to be prepared.
- Know the local culture before hand. Certain food might be banned in certain countries, certain gestures and actions might be considered offensive by the locals. Remember that one of the purpose of an ecotourism trip is to be enriched by the culture of the destination. It is best not to offend the locals.
- Know what the breakdown of the bills. Imagine having to find out on the site that the boat ride you must take must be paid on site. And you forgot to bring any money. To save yourself of the hassle of all these, it is best to know where your money is going.
- Enjoy. Ecotourism trips are trips for discovery and vacation. Remember that you are there to have fun and learn.
