Ecotourism Holiday

Ecotourism Holiday

Tired of all the hustle and bustle of the city? Sick of the ways the planet has been polluted by people who do not know any better? Want to contribute something for the betterment of the planet? Planning to do something meaningful while on holiday? Why not commit yourself to it and plan to have an ecotourism holiday?

According to the definition by The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), ecotourism is the “responsible travel to natural areas to conserve the environment and improves the well-being of local people.”

Ecotourism is a portmanteau of the two words, Ecological and Tourism. While it suggests travel to some destinations, it also connotes an ecological aspect. Ecotourism focuses on volunteering, finding ways, and helping with the betterment of the planet. The Ecotourist intends to do away with conventional tourist ways which contributes to the degradation of natural resources, pollution, and corrupting the cultural integrity of the tourist spot.

An ecotourism holiday would then have to mean spending a holiday meaningfully. A holiday which is not only to make the most of a vacation, but also to contribute personal growth, ecological awareness, and the preservation of cultures and natural resources. Be sure to check out Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nepal, Kenya, and Madagascar, as they have incorporated ecotourism as a major industry in their national economy.
